Other ways to help

It costs an average of $23 each day to feed the orphans and the 431 students in Bright Star School the following foods:

    corn each day
a banana and orange every week
bread and peanut butter every month
milk or cheese once a month

Offering meat products for the students is not financially possible, although we buy meat for the orphans once in a while.  We offer no candy, no desserts, and nothing other than water to drink.  The meal the students get at Bright Star is usually the only food they'll get that day.  Parents are asked to donate 1 kilo (2.2 lbs.) of beans each month and some are able to do it.  Most can't.  Parents are rarely able to pay the $3-6/month school fees.  Books and school supplies are paid for by friends, family, and church.
