Teacher Sponsor Program

At Bright Star School, our Primary and Intermediate teachers make $58/month.  They have varying levels of training from a one-year certificate to a three-year diploma.  Some have taught at Bright Star from our first day of school in November, 2003.  They're not in it for the money - they're dedicated to teaching children.
If you'd like to contribute to the Teacher Fund, you can send a donation each month or make a one-time donation to this fund.  For more information, e-mail me by clicking

Peter has been our dedicated, hard-working cook for 3 years.  We pay him $75/month.

Paul is our gatekeeper and is also active in Pastor's church.  He's paid to do odd jobs around the school as well as man the gate.  He's paid $60/month and needs a sponsor.

Gladys is the school secretary.  She also fills in when teachers are absent.  Her meager salary is paid from school fees so she really needs a sponsor. Noah is our night watchman.  He risked his life when nearby fires threatened the school.  Twice he has been injured in his effort to protect Bright Star and the students.  He's paid $65/month and needs a sponsor.
Daniel and Mary own a tailoring shop (r) in Fuata Nyayo.  They are both excellent tailors.  Two days each week they come to Bright Star to repair uniforms and teach children how to sew.  They are sponsored by Shirley Hoy, our own expert seamstress.
