Yusuf is reading the letter from his sponsor
while John O. begins
writing a reply to the sponsor letter he received.
Children love
getting letters!
If you'd like to
send an e-mail to your sponsored child, here are some suggestions of things to write about:
what the weather here is
like
any birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, graduations, etc. that
you've recently celebrated
the classes you're studying in school
words of wisdom you want to share
a book you're reading
what hobbies you have
your health
your family members and pets
a funny experience (they don't tell jokes and usually don't
understand our humor)
U.S. national or world news event
your faith
what you're studying in Bible study
educational stuff (Did you know...?)
and add lots of encouragement

Following is a new and improved approach to e-mailing your child:
1. Your child will be assisted and encouraged to correspond
with you.
2. Your child is allowed to use a personal e-mail address.
3. Your child may contact you a maximum of once per month but
may write more often in order to respond to your e-mails.
4. Your child may not request money or goods unless you
specifically ask what he/she needs.
5. All e-mail content (including attachments) must be
original work prepared by your child (no forwarding to you from other sources).
6. Your e-mail address will be kept confidential and will not
be shared with anyone without your written permission.
7. You may send your e-mails to
me at
janice.hinkle@att.net with your child’s name in the subject line.
I hope you will foster open communication with your child. It will
mean a great deal to your child and may result in a lifelong
gratifying relationship between the two of you.
Please feel free to contact
me or any
board member if you have a
question.

Would you like to send a gift
in your child's sponsor bag when I visit Bright Star?
Here are some ideas of what to send:
1. a small mirror
2. travel size shoe shine kit
3. 1st aid kit
4. sewing kit
5. beef jerky
6. hard candy
7. a photo of you/ your family
8. a thin book
9. a puzzle book or coloring book with colored pencils
10. pretty pencil or pen
11. small notebook or stationery
12. an inexpensive bracelet or necklace or cross necklace
13. socks, t-shirt, or belt
14. sock hat or flannel scarf
Students spend their sponsor money mostly on
school supplies, soap, toothpaste, treats, socks, and underwear.

At this time we have no P.O. box in
Nairobi.
