We are...NO LONGER...in need of shoes and socks!

Tattered shoes are a thing of the past.  Lutheran Redeemer School of Kokomo raised $1886.45 to buy shoes for all Bright Star students who are in need!

A standard pair of black school shoes costs about $7.00.  A pair of socks costs $1.00.  Pastor John looked at feet at Bright Star to determine the shoe needs of our students.  He found:

23 students with no shoes
Pastor explains, "They used to have sandles (flip-flops) but due to the heavy rainfall, some got torn while other children decided to leave their sandles at home because it is difficult to walk with sandles in the mud."

45 students with only flip-flops
These wear out quickly as they're quite cheaply made.

55 students with shoes in bad condition
These shoes have holes, the soles are flopping loose, the laces are missing, and they're often the wrong size.

Pastor John writes:  "... with our Kenyan children they cannot wear their (only) shoes when playing maybe football (our soccer) or any other game.  Those shoes are very very precious only to be worn in class time."
Consequently, the children play soccer barefooted or in their flip-flops.  You can hear them laughing when someone's flip-flop goes flying through the air in the middle of a soccer game!

In addition to the money, Redeemer students donated clothing, pencil boxes, pencils, pens, eraser caps, pencil grips, notebook paper, pencil sharpeners, books, folders, glue sticks, jump ropes, colored pencils, crayons, flash cards, and Bible Facts cards.  Many Bright Star students will benefit from Redeemer Lutheran School's generosity.

Thank you, Redeemer Lutheran School!
