This is the mimosa tree dedicated to
honor Ken Mwangi. |
Ken was an
orphan who came to us when the man who had been caring for Ken died.
After a year at Bright Star, Ken and his best buddy Christopher were
waiting along the street to cross at a roundabout when a
tanker truck went around the roundabout too fast and rolled over onto
Ken, killing him instantly.

| Vincent was a
resident of Mukuru slum who came to our clinic at Bright Star in
June of '09 for help. With his brain tumor growing, he had
lost one eye and was losing his vision in the other eye.
Friends of Bright Star donated $835 to help Vincent's family pay for
chemotherapy and the hospital bill. In spite of all
efforts, Vincent passed away from complications of the brain tumor.
The family sent a
thank you card
to express their appreciation to those who donated money for
Vincent's care and funeral expenses. |

memory of my dear friend, Cindy Dwyer,
who passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2009. |
Cindy wrote
children's books and sent me free copies to take to the kids
at Bright Star. She always thought of others. |

Helen walked
the Christian walk. She wanted to help an orphan and she chose
to sponsor Benjamin. Although our relationship with Helen was
short, she was a blessing to us. |
