How far will your money go?  What will it buy?

If you'd like to donate to Bright Star School, you should know that 100% of your donation
is used to educate, feed, shelter, clothe, and provide the basic needs such as medical care, school supplies, and some recreational activities for the children.  No money is used for administrative costs.

What have donations been used for?

  • to install a water tank to promote better flushing of toilets (see photo above)

  • to expand the girls' dormitory

  • to buy seeds, fertilizer, and garden tools for a small garden project of vegetables

  • to add shrubs to beautify the school grounds

  • to buy the Kenyan flag and flag pole

  • to add cement chalkboards

  • to buy teacher and student desks, chairs, and tables

  • to buy textbooks and teaching manuals

  • to build a dog house, chicken coop, and rabbit hutch

  • to pay for eyeglasses, vaccinations, and medical expenses of students

  • monthly salaries of Pastor John ($100), cook ($75),
    night watchman ($63), gatekeeper ($63)

  • food and supplements (corn, bread/peanut butter/butter, bananas,
    greens, oranges, milk, and cheese)

  • toilet paper, disinfectant, newspaper, electric and water bills,
    insect and rodent repellent, brooms

  • food for dogs and chickens

  • firewood for cooking

  • necessities for orphans

  • sugar and milk for teachers' morning tea

  • orphan and teacher sponsor money
