The Mud, oh, the Mud

 Lindsey and Ralph's Garden

The "Before" photo of Bright Star's "garden"

Seeds were planted in peat pots.

Weeds were cleared out.

Good, rich Kenyan soil was delivered...

and dumped in the garden...

by several strong workers...

including Francis and Onesmus.

Lindsey's garden was taking shape.

Vegetable rows were planted and labeled.

Lindsey is telling Simba to stay out of the garden.

Seeds sprouted...

and sprouted...

and were still sprouting...

when I returned in June.

A tree was planted in the garden to honor Ken Mwangi, one of our boarders who was killed by a vehicle.

This is the garden in July.

This is the garden in August.

Kris took a very sick Mary Grace to the hospital and also paid for her medical care.

Vincent was very sick when we arrived but recovered with Kris and Erin's help.

Lillian translated and treated patients.

Following in mom's footsteps?

Kris checked teeth.

Students wait quietly for their turn.

Johnstone helped translate.

Debbie waits for the translation.

Worm meds were given.

Even Pastor's wife received treatment.

Lots of ringworm was found...

as were upper respiratory infections.

Nancy and her little sister got the whole treatment.

Little Sarah even got a bath.

Kris treated Anton's foot...

and now they have a special bond.
